Relationship Issues

Some clients come to me with the fear of being hurt, some are not even aware that this is what is causing them relationship difficulties or problems finding a relationship. The subconscious fear of being hurt often outweighs our desire to be in a healthy, loving relationship on a conscious level, this may be due to a previous personal negative experience or one that has been observed. Low confidence and self-esteem is also a reason for relationship issues, clients feeling that they don’t deserve to be in a relationship or worrying that they do not have the resilience necessary to overcome potential heart break should they get rejected. This can result in subconsciously choosing people who aren’t really available i.e. choosing people who are in relationships or choosing people who say they do not want a relationship, feeling that is a ‘safer’ option. Other clients repeatedly and even unconsciously choose a personality type that doesn’t fit well with their personality.

Relationship Conflict

In relationships it can be helpful to not always agree, it gives us the skills to challenge, communicate and understand the perspective of others. If conflict has a constant presence and arguments become personal, malicious and angry this causes stress can be detrimental to both parties physical and mental health. Often arguments, especially those that become repetitive, do not address the real problems in a relationship but become a catalyst for underlying issues, which are often not discussed.
